Energy Management Contract (EMC) refers to a kind of business operation model of recouping capital outlay and obtaining profits from the energy efficiency gained by energy-saving reconstruction via a set of energy-saving services with energy auditing, project design, equipment procurement, project construction, equipment installation and debugging, staff training, energy-saving conformation and guarantee included after signing energy-saving services contract.
EMC Model: Investment will assume all the costs of the energy-saving reconstruction with no or little enterprise investments. After signing a contract, the investment company will take full responsibility in the production, installation, commissioning of street lamp energy-saving equipments. Investors will also cover the equipment repair and maintenance fees during the contract period, and the energy-saving profits generated during the contract period (typically 5 years) will be shared in proportion by investors and customers (municipal) respectively. If exceeding the contract period, the ownership of energy-saving equipments will be transferred to local municipal competent authorities and investors will no long share in the benefits.
